Stevenson Memorial Hospital Tour

Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson visited Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston this week. Hospital President and CEO Jody Levac provided MPP Saunderson with an update on the status of Stage 2 of the hospital’s revitalization application. CEO Levac also gave MPP Saunderson a tour of the facility which was built in 1964. The hospital’s Emergency Department was designed to serve 7,000 patients in a year. Now it serves almost 40,000 patients annually.

Stevenson Memorial Hospital is a fully accredited hospital offering 41 inpatient beds and a wide range of outpatient services. The hospital serves a catchment area that includes Adjala-Tosorontio, Canadian Forces Base Borden, Essa, Innisfil and New Tecumseth. 

Here is some history that is displayed on the hospital’s web site: “Stevenson dates back to 1928, when donations from T.P. Loblaw, of the famed Loblaws grocery chain, conceived the idea of a hospital as a tribute to his grandparents, William and Elizabeth Stevenson.”
