Preparing for Flu Season
Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston is helping individuals and families prepare for flu season to offer suggestions on how we can all minimize the risk of contracting viruses this fall.
[Press Release – Sept. 6, 2023 – New Tecumseth] – With cooler weather on the horizon, the official start of fall is only weeks away. As temperatures fall, there will be more time spent indoors in close contact to others, and with this can come ‘flu season’ marked by the spread of respiratory viruses such as Influenza, COVID-19, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and the common cold.
“There are several things we can do to help prepare for the onset of flu season and to decrease the spread of viruses such as COVID-19 and RSV,” says Dr. Barry Nathanson, Interim Chief of Staff, Stevenson Memorial Hospital. “A proactive approach is always a good defence against these viruses which we confidently anticipate will spike in the coming months,” he adds.
