St. Cecilia Catholic School Grand Opening

A grand opening ceremony took place on Tuesday November 29th at @SMCDSB_SCE St. Cecilia Catholic School in Alliston. Students, parents and friends attended the much-anticipated event. Bishop John A. Boissonneau performed the blessing.

The new school welcomed approximately 450 students to classes when it opened its doors in September. While the opening of the new St. Cecilia School addressed the immediate needs of students, teachers and staff, additional new schools are in the planning stage as the board continues to react to the explosive growth anticipated to take place in Alliston/New Tecumseth in the next decade.

In early September, Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson issued a press release confirming construction of St. Cecilia Catholic School was complete, and the new school would be ready to welcome new students for the first day of classes.

“This project is a part of Ontario’s ongoing efforts to build and improve local schools, with the province providing Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board with $14.9 million to build the new school in Alliston” said MPP Saunderson.

MPP Saunderson said the completion of the new St. Cecilia Catholic School was exciting news at a time when the provincial government continues to support new, modern schools for students in Allston. “This investment will ensure families and students have access to a quality learning environment in the years ahead.” he added.
