Speed Nation – Alpine Nationals at Blue Mountain

Simcoe-Grey has been in the national and international spotlight once again. Blue Mountain Resort hosted the FIS Snowboard World Cup followed by the Speed Nation – Alpine Nationals featuring top North American athletes competing over four days. I was very pleased to attend with The Hon. Neil Lumsden, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, to take in some of the fast paced competition.

January 30th and 31st featured the NorAm PGS / Senior Nationals. February 1st and 2nd will feature the FIS PGS / Junior Nationals / Youth Nationals.

The Hon. Neil Lumsden, MPP Hamilton East—Stoney Creek – Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, took part in podium presentations of both Canadian and NorAM winners on Monday January 30th.

After a mild start to the new year, traditional south Georgian Bay – Town of The Blue Mountains winter weather moved in just in time for the event.

The competitions have been drawing large crowds at Blue Mountain, and the new snow has been welcomed by skiers and boarders of all levels.

It was my pleasure to talk about news and events in our region over lunch with the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport at one of the traditional ski country restaurant’s in The Blue Mountains.
