The Ontario government is marking a key milestone in delivering high-quality hospital care for families in Simcoe County by issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to begin the process in selecting a team that will build an expanded and revitalized Stevenson Memorial Hospital.
Since 1928, families throughout Alliston and New Tecumseth have relied on the hospital. Providing world-class healthcare requires planning, process and procedures. It’s encouraging to know we’re now at this exciting stage of expansion.
Issuing an RFQ is the first step in the process to select a qualified team to deliver this project that will ensure people in New Tecumseth and surrounding areas can continue to connect to the high-quality care they need in their growing community, for years to come.
Now the work begins to choose a contractor and ideally we see shovels in the ground late next year.

Cell Phones in School
A new school year is here, and this September we’re getting back to basics in schools with a focus on reading, writing and math — without distractions. That’s why cell phones will be banned from classrooms. It’s our way to keep the focus on learning.
The Ontario government is investing $47.5 million to support safe and healthy learning, along with implementing the most comprehensive plan in Canada to restrict student use of cellphones and ban vaping in schools. By removing distractions, students can focus their attention on academic achievement, which will include modernized courses in business and career studies, and technological education.

This is a great time of year to enjoy one of the Fall Fairs in Simcoe-Grey. I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the Barrie Fall Fair at the beautiful Essa Agriplex.
