Matthews House Hospice awarded $107,000 OTF Capital Grant to install new flooring

Alliston, ON – Brian Saunderson, Member of Provincial Parliament for Simcoe-Grey,
met with the team at Matthews House Hospice (MHH) to learn more about how they used their $107,000 capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant, awarded in 2024, enabled them to make necessary flooring updates to the main and lower level of the hospice.
“Strong communities are built on compassion, and the staff and volunteers at Matthews House Hospice exemplify that every day,” said MPP Saunderson. “This provincial investment supports practical improvements that will make a meaningful difference for everyone who walks through the door. I want to thank Margaret Bachle and the entire Matthews House team for their dedication and for the incredible work they do in supporting clients and families with dignity and care.”
Some areas of the hospice previously posed mobility challenges. Repairs to the main-level subfloor and the replacement of carpet with vinyl flooring in two lower-level rooms have enhanced safety and made it easier for clients and visitors who use mobility aids to navigate the space.

This funding will help ensure that it remains at the heart of the community for decades to come.”

Whether it’s purchasing equipment, building a new space or completing renovations, retrofits or repairs, these grants support projects that are making a difference in Simcoe-Grey.
