Premier Ford Reverses Government’s Plan to Open Greenbelt for Development

VIDEO: Ontario Premier Doug Ford is reversing his government’s plan to open up the Greenbelt for development. At a press conference this afternoon, Premier Ford apologized to Ontarians for breaking an election promise. “I want the people of Ontario to know, I’m listening.”

Ford said it was a mistake to open the Greenbelt. “When I make a mistake, I fix it.”

“We’re doing everything in our powers with the proper intentions to have affordable, attainable homes for people in this province. I thank you for your understanding.”

Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson said when his party makes promises they are to be taken seriously, along with delivering on those promises. “The Ontario Auditor General found in her report that the process was rushed. We heard you, we listened and we acted” said Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson.
