Province investing in emergency equipment and training to protect communities

Clearview Township, ON: Yesterday, Brian Saunderson, Member of Provincial Parliament for the riding of Simcoe-Grey announced that the government is taking action to protect Ontario by investing up to $46,828.70 in Clearview Township to help prepare for and respond to emergencies. Funding is being delivered through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG), which strengthens emergency preparedness by helping communities improve their local resilience.
“This investment will help Clearview Township strengthen its emergency preparedness and ensure residents are supported when it matters most,” said MPP Saunderson. “From severe winter storms to extended power outages, having the right equipment and resources in place is essential. I want to congratulate the Township on securing this funding and thank the Clearview Fire Department for their continued leadership, professionalism, and commitment to keeping our communities safe”
This targeted investment will allow Clearview Township to enhance emergency preparedness in response to frequent wind, snow, and ice storms, including equipping shelters with essential supplies such as cots, blankets, and a generator. It will also support the secure storage and rapid deployment of evacuation resources through the addition of an enclosed utility trailer, particularly in areas vulnerable to prolonged power outages.

- The CEPG supports small- to medium-sized municipalities, local services boards, First Nations communities, Tribal Councils and Indigenous service organizations.
- Recipients were selected through a rigorous and competitive review process.
- Since the program launched in 2023, the province has invested $15 million to provide 342 recipients with grants.
