Province investing in emergency equipment and training to protect communities

Adjala-Tosorontio, ON: Yesterday, Brian Saunderson, Member of Provincial Parliament for the riding of Simcoe-Grey met with Mayor Scott Anderson, Fire Chief Todd Aitken and members of the Adjala-Tosorontio Fire Department at Station 2 to announce that the government is taking action to protect Ontario by investing up to $50,000.00 in the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio to help prepare for and respond to emergencies. Funding is being delivered through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG), which strengthens emergency preparedness by helping communities improve their local resilience.
“Effective emergency response starts at the local level,” said MPP Saunderson. “This investment will help equip the Adjala-Tosorontio Fire Department with the tools needed to respond quickly and confidently in critical situations, while supporting the frontline teams dedicated to keeping residents safe.”
This targeted investment will allow Adjala-Tosorontio to strengthen wildland fire response and improve community safety through upgraded equipment and outreach tools. Funding will support the purchase of two portable pumps, wildland forestry hose, chainsaws with appropriate safety gear, portable radios, and mobile road sign boards. These resources will enhance operational capacity for wildland fire suppression, severe weather response, and prolonged power outages.

- Recipients were selected through a rigorous and competitive review process.
- Since the program launched in 2023, the province has invested $15 million to provide 342 recipients with grants.
