New home brings 128 modern long-term care beds to the community

STAYNER, ON: The Ontario government is celebrating the opening of the new Stayner Care Centre long-term care home that will add 79 new and 49 redeveloped modern long-term care beds to the community. This project is a recipient of the construction funding subsidy top-up and is part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by creating good jobs and building for the future, while ensuring long-term care residents get the quality of care and quality of life they need and deserve.
“The new Stayner Care Centre represents a meaningful investment in the people who built our communities and deserve to age with dignity, comfort, and connection,” said Brian Saunderson, MPP for Simcoe-Grey. “This home will expand access to care and reflect a resident-centred approach that keeps individuals close to their families and the community they know. Today marks an important step forward for senior’s care in Clearview Township and I am pleased to see this vision come to life for residents and their families.”
“The opening of the new Stayner Care Centre marks a major milestone in our government’s plan to protect residents and increase access to world-class health care across the province,” said Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, Minister of Long-Term Care. “Now that construction has been completed, 128 residents have a safe and modern place to call home.”
The new 128 bed home also features a beauty salon, resident café, family dining room and lounges, wellness centre, bath and shower spas, celebration room, craft and private reflection room and an enclosed patio and garden.
This project is part of the Ontario government’s continued progress toward its commitment to build 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds across the province, as outlined in the 2026 Ontario Budget: A Plan to Protect Ontario. The plan to improve long-term care is built on four pillars: staffing and care; quality and enforcement; building modern, safe and comfortable homes; and connecting seniors with faster, more convenient access to the services they need.
QUICK FACTS
- The Stayner Care Centre is a for-profit home that is located in Stayner, Clearview Township, and is licensed and operated by Jarlette Health Services.
- As of January 2026, 164 projects representing a total of 25,893 new and redeveloped beds are completed, under construction or have ministry approval to start construction across the province.
- The government is continuing its ambitious and extensive long-term care construction campaign with the 2025 Long-Term Care Home Capital Funding Policy and Capital Funding Program (CFP). The CFP provides a funding framework that better reflects regional cost variations while addressing diverse operator needs within the long-term care sector.
- The CFP replaced the construction funding subsidy (CFS) and the time-limited CFS top-up that were introduced in 2022 and resulted in the largest construction of long-term care projects the government has achieved in a single year.
- The province is taking innovative steps to get long-term care homes built, including modernizing its funding model, selling unused lands with the requirement that long-term care homes be built on portions of the properties, and leveraging hospital-owned land to build urgently needed homes in large urban areas.
