I had the pleasure of touring the new Toronto courthouse along with MPP for Barrie – Springwater – Oro-Medonte and Attorney General of Ontario @DouglasDowney, Member of Provincial Parliament for Etobicoke Centre and Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure @KingaSurma and others on Monday December 5th, 2022.
The first of its kind, 17 storey high-rise 63 courtroom structure, is the most technically advanced and modernized courthouse in Ontario. The building will amalgamate six Ontario Court of Justice criminal courthouse locations into one. The new courthouse will contain, among other high-tech features, closed-circuit television to enable children and other vulnerable witnesses to appear before the court from a private room and courtroom video/audio systems to allow counsel to display video evidence recorded in various formats and for the simultaneous viewing of evidence. It is set to open in early 2023.
