MPP Saunderson Talks Health Care

Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson addressed the Ontario Legislature on Thursday November 3rd on the topic of health care, in support of a motion tabled by Barrie-Innisfil MPP Andrea Khanjin.

“This government is committed to investing 22 billion dollars over the next 10 years for hospital capital projects, to build new health care facilities across the province, to create new hospital beds, to expand emergency rooms and to create new surgical facilities.”

MPP Saunderson said in his riding of Simcoe-Grey, both Alliston’s Stevenson Memorial Hospital and Collingwood’s General and Marine Hospital represent an integral and essential part of the health care infrastructure and fabric of the communities they serve and in addition provide health care to the many tourists and visitors to the region.

MPP Saunderson stated the hospital board and senior staff of Stevenson Memorial Hospital have been working tirelessly on the five-stage redevelopment process for a number of years, having received stage two approval to this point. Similarly, the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital is working towards a new hospital to serve the residents of south Georgian Bay. The hospital board and senior staff is working towards achieving stage two approval with plans to submit the application to the province early in the new year.
