Honda in High Gear !

It was a historic month in Alliston!

On April 25, Honda announced an astounding $15 billion investment in Ontario to create Canada’s first comprehensive EV supply chain.

This investment will allow Honda Canada to build four new manufacturing plants in our province, which will include a world-class EV assembly plant, a battery manufacturing plant, a cathode plant, and a separator plant.

The Premier and our team have been working for months with Honda

In addition to securing the current employment of 4,200 associates at its two existing facilities, this investment will create over one thousand new jobs for the EV and EV battery manufacturing facilities in Alliston. This is the largest auto investment in Canadian history, which will include a new assembly plant that will produce up to 240,000 vehicles per year.

The Honda EV expansion will create 1,000 new jobs at the Alliston plants.

A NEW School is coming to Wasaga Beach!

Education Minister Stephen Lecce joined me to make the announcement

The Ontario government is investing $57.7 million in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board for a new Wasaga Beach JK-12 School, helping working families in Wasaga Beach.
This will support the creation of 1,008 student spaces and 49 licensed child care spaces in Wasaga Beach as part of the government’s commitment to building state-of-the-art learning spaces for Ontario students. This project is part of a $1.3 billion plan that more than doubles funding to build new schools and expansions, including child care spaces.

The overall investment, which is the highest ever made in a single year, supports the creation of more than 27,000 new student spaces and more than 1,700 licensed child care spaces at schools across Ontario.
“Our government is more than doubling the funding to build new schools, which represents the single largest investment in school building in Ontario history,” said Education Minister Stephen Lecce.
Ontario’s government unveiled a new plan to build faster, including providing school boards with more flexibility and support to get shovels in the ground quicker and have more options to use existing buildings in their communities. The new school could be built by 2027.
