Duntroon Cyder House
There are many reasons tourists love to visit Simcoe-Grey throughout all four seasons. Agri-tourism attracts thousands of visitors to our region from all parts of Ontario and beyond, to rural settings where they can explore and experience the many joys of farm life, sample and take home the many unique products grown and created here.
Situated on County Road 124 just north of Duntroon in Clearview is one of the region’s popular destinations, the Duntroon Cyder House. Tim and Kimberly Schneider take great pride in welcoming visitors to the region, and to provide products bursting with local ingredients.
“One taste of Duntroon, and you’ve opened the doorway between great nature and great taste” is the one sentence the Schneiders use to best describe the experience you will enjoy.
Duntroon Cyder House begins with its attachment to nature and sustainability. They work with only premium ingredients and traditional methods to produce a premium, authentic product at their working organic farm. The Schneider family purchased the 108 acre farm in 2002 but it wasn’t until 2015 that Duntroon Cyder House was officially born. “Today, with the support of a dedicated team, the farm and it’s orchards are all maintained organically and in an eco-friendly, sustainable fashion, boasting harvests of garlic, corn, tomatoes, apples, pears and more!”
Owner Tim Schneider learned a great deal about the business by travelling extensively including spending time time training with a renowned French Cyder Master in the art of traditional cyder-making. Upon returning home, Schneider applied what he already knew with the training he had received while travelling abroad and Duntroon Cyder made it’s initial debut to friends and family in 2016. How well was it received? Let’s just say it wasn’t long before Duntroon Cider hit the LCBO shelves and became a mainstay in the Clearview, South Georgian Bay area. Cheers to that!
