Stayner, ON – Brian Saunderson, Member of Provincial Parliament for Simcoe-Grey is pleased to extend congratulations and share details on a recent funding announcement from the Province to Clearview Township. Through the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, the Township received a $199,900 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) in 2024,which enabled them to hire an Active Community Programmer, implement a sustainable ACP program, and expand on their Youth Centre programming.

“Congratulations to Mayor Doug Measures, Council, and Township staff for securing this provincial funding to create opportunities that bring people together in Clearview to live active, healthy lives,” said Brian Saunderson, MPP for Simcoe-Grey. “This grant is helping to strengthen community connections, enhance local recreation, and build a foundation for long-term well-being.”

At a recent Open House event, short mat bowling was demonstrated. This is just one of the activities available through the Active Communities Program. The Resilient Communities Fund grant program was designed in 2020 to help small communities and non-profit groups move past some of the challenges that were created as a result of the pandemic. Funds from the grant were also used to purchase fitness and recreation equipment, communications materials, a computer and software licensing, and training certifications.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous support,” said Mayor Doug Measures. “Thanks to their funding, our community has seen active participation, with residents of all ages embracing new fitness programs and engaging in activities that promote health and well-being. OTF’s contribution has helped foster an active and vibrant Clearview, and we are thankful for the positive impact it has had on our community,” added Measures.

“Non-profit organizations across Ontario deliver programming that makes a difference,” said Stan Cho Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Gaming for Ontario. “That’s why funding that my ministry is providing through the OTF is so important. Our government wants to ensure that these spaces remain the heart of communities across our province.”

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested nearly $105M into 732 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment.  Visit oft.ca to learn more.
